FAQ

Q: What is the testing procedure for MGA exams?
Each student taking any MGA exam must have a laptop or desktop computer. For virtual proctoring, a webcam is also required.

Q: What is the MGA exam schedule?
MGA regular exam days for virtual proctoring are Tuesdays and Thursdays at 9 AM Eastern Time. MGA needs 3 days’ notice to register students for exams.

Q: How do I register for an MGA exam?
Please email the appropriate ASSE 6000 application to exams@medgaslicense.com along with your payment information, course certificate, headshot photo and preferred test date.

Q: What is a passing grade for MGA exams?
The passing grade varies based upon which exam is being taken.

Q: When will I find out my exam results?
For your computer exam, you’ll have your results right away. For the ASME IX braze exam, we usually have the results in 3-4 weeks.

Q: What if I do not pass the exam?
You are allowed to retake the exam twice more at no charge. The retests must be scheduled with MGA. If the exam is not passed on the third try, we recommend going through the training program again, and another exam fee is applicable.

Q: How often do I have to renew my ASSE 6000 license?
For all ASSE 6000 licenses, renewal is required usually every 3 years, to correspond with new editions of NFPA 99. For ASSE 6010 licenses, the ASME IX braze certification is also required to be renewed every 6 months.

Q: How do I renew my license?
For ASSE 6000 licenses, you will need to take a recertification course that meets all of the requirements of ASSE 6000 and covering the changes made to new editions of NFPA 99, then send your course certificate along with your renewal application to MGA. For your ASME IX braze renewal, you’ll receive an email prior to renewal with a form and instructions.

Q: How can I check my certification to see if it’s current?
You can look up your certification in the ‘Credential Lookup’ portal here.

Q: When do renewals take place?
MGA renewals are always either January 31st or July 31st. Your renewal will need to be completed prior to those dates depending on your current expiration. There is a grace period allowed, but please contact MGA if you will be unable to complete your renewal on time. After your expiration date, your license is no longer considered valid.

Q: Do all states accept the MGA license?
We recommend that you check with the authority having jurisdiction in your state to see if they have specific licensing agency requirements. Most states do not, but there are some states who do.

Q: Can I order a replacement ID card?
Yes, please email cs@medgaslicense.com with your inquiry. There is a $15 fee.
